Too Many Choices With Disposable Diapers?
Disposable diapers are probably the most important invention since the telephone. The days when parents had to use flannel cloth diapers that were adjusted with oversized pins are over.
Parents are a great deal happier because of this, but we also have a brand new problem. The huge range of choices and brands of disposable diapers makes it nearly impossible to decide between them.
Commercial ads all say the same thing. All brands seem to have special shields to prevent leaks, and many have designs that are able to suit either a boy or a girl. The boy’s diapers have more protection in the front and girl’s diapers have more protection in the mid section. The prices are all different depending on the brand that you use, however I have learned one real fact; all of these diapers are pretty much the same. The only real difference seems to be how they fit the baby.
I tried Huggies and Pampers which are both excellent disposable diapers; however I realized that I used a different brand with each child.
My oldest daughter seemed to have less leakage with the Huggies as she had a bit of a baby belly and these diapers worked better with her constant movement thanks to their flexible Velcro fasteners.
My second daughter had a very slim baby body and I found that the Pampers worked best, but they didn ’t use Velcro or flexible fasteners at the time; of course finding out meant trial and error, which usually ended up on my lap. Both of these are name brands and are therefore somewhat pricey.
I also went the cheaper route by using Luvs and store brands. What I learned was that Luvs worked as well as the name brands; had cute little designs on them. The overwhelming idea here is that there are many brands of disposable diapers to choose from and in general they are all the same. It is all a matter of what works best for you and your baby.
